| There are so many things that we love about Grammar. The choices of sport, music and the great, friendly atmosphere. The School is like one big happy family!
Cathedral Grammar is a very musical school, having a Girl’s School choir, the Boy’s School choir, the Junior School choir and the Cathedral Choir. We have great music teachers here so you can learn the guitar, drums, violin, recorder, piano, trumpet, French horn and other instruments without having to organize lessons after school somewhere else. And, once you have learnt these you can enjoy the school orchestra or stage band. To add to these musical activities, the school produces an operetta every two years. Everyone takes part and works incredibly hard throughout the whole term and because of all that hard work, the end results are amazing.
Throughout the year there are various interschool sports trips and cultural exchanges which are always thoroughly enjoyed. At the beginning of the year, Year Six, Seven, and Eight pupils enjoy an annual camp while the Year Five camp is in term four. These are one of the highlights of each year and a chance for the class to bond in all sorts of outdoor activities away from school.
We love playing sport too! Every summer we have the option of playing either cricket or tennis and in winter the choices are either hockey or netball for the girls and rugby or hockey for the boys. Many of us represent the school at Zone and Canterbury level championships for swimming, cross-country and athletics. There are many extra opportunities for us to join, from sporting to academic and they are all run by an enthusiastic teacher or parent. For example, the Chess club, Literature Quiz Team, Touch Rugby and Summer Hockey to name a few.
The size of Grammar makes it easy to get to know everyone, which is one of the things that gives the school such a friendly environment and that is what we think makes Cathedral Grammar the fantastic school it is.
If you would like to learn more about this great school, we would be more than happy to give you a guided tour.
