Specialist teachers share their passion for learning
The Cathedral Grammar School has a long history of high academic and cultural achievement, a direct outcome of employing high-calibre staff. Many of our teachers endorse their knowledge with extra qualifications in particular curriculum subjects.

In many primary schools, the same teacher teaches all subjects.  The Cathedral Grammar School introduces specialist teachers at every Year level for particular subjects. Dedicated specialist teachers take pupils for physical education, art, music, religious education and computer studies.

Increasingly as children move beyond Year 5, many other curriculum subjects are delivered by teachers who specialise in particular subjects. (e.g. science, history, geography, mathematics, English). An extensive range of  independent music, speech, singing and drama teachers, and sporting coaches are available to complement the school teaching staff.

Opportunities are provided for extension and support programmes, music and speech lessons and extra curricular activities.

Specialist Music Teachers
The Cathedral Grammar School has a strong tradition of music and culture. Our renowned Cathedral Choristers date back to 1881 and continue to be a strong feature of the school. We also have three additional choirs - a Girls' Chapel Choir, a Boys' Chapel Choir, and more recently a Junior School Choir.

Our many independent music teachers, instructing across a wide range of instruments, are onsite daily taking lessons with individual pupils.  All classes throughout the school receive regular class music lessons from a specialist music teacher, in our specialist music room and keyboard room. Consequently, each year we have up to 50 pupils, playing over 15 different instruments, in our orchestra.
