Science Curriculum | Cathedral Grammar School Christchurch

The science programme aims to foster interest in and enthusiasm for greater understanding of this world, and provide a sound basis for future scientific study.

Science periods are timetabled from Year 4 through to Year 8 to enable pupils to cover the syllabus and gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding. All science lessons that include practical work and experimentation are held in the well-equipped science laboratory.

Children are encouraged to participate in science-based activities, which are held throughout the year. These include the Canterbury Westland Science Fair, the Intermediate Schools' Science Scene and the Canterbury Science Teachers' Association Science Badge work.

The School's own science exhibition, in which all senior pupils participate, is held at the end of the first term.
