ICT | Information Communication Technology | Cathedral Grammar School

Information Communication Technology (ICT), and the use of computers in particular, has an important, and growing, role in education. The Pre-School and all classrooms in the school are equipped with at least one networked computer. Pods or groups of computers are available in each department, whilst a specialist ICT room is available for all classes to use as required. In addition, a classroom set of wireless laptop computers is available for use around the school.web 2009 243 All children in Years 6,7 and 8 are issued with a laptop computer.

The Cathedral Grammar School is committed to ensuring there is a high level of ICT resourcing and use throughout the school. The ICT programme complements the traditional emphasis given to ensuring that every pupil in the school receives a very firm grounding in the basics of literacy and numeracy.

Computers are used by all pupils in all subjects for publishing or creating. The use of word processing, spreadsheet, drawing and database applications are taught and a variety of software programmes are used.

Pupils have access to the computer room to assist with homework assignments during teacher supervised prep after school.
