Pupils in the Community

The pupils of Cathedral Grammar are aware that they are fortunate in life, and desire strongly the opportunity to give back to the community.web 2009 273

The pupils have their own Board of Senior Students (BOSS) which undertakes activities to support local and national charities, and international aid organisations.

The BOSS committee comprises Year 8 leaders, some elected termly by fellow pupils to represent their Houses; others serving due to their senior leadership positions within the school.

BOSS runs mufti days, organises food drives, book collections, one-off emergency appeals and the annual BOSS Fair.

BOSS regularly supports Ronald McDonald House, Cholmondeley Children's Home, the Red Cross and the Christchurch City Mission. Recent sponsorship has also included Mt Cook Search and Rescue, several members of whom were on the ground the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake, and the SPCA.

BOSS continues to treasure its sponsorship of two World Vision children, ongoing for more than twenty years now, and the school relishes sharing the news and updates received from Africa.
